The Didache
The Didache—“The Teaching of the Lord through the Twelve Apostles to the Nations”—is a short church manual composed in the first century A.D. (often dated c. 50–100). It offers a window into the moral, liturgical, and communal life of some of the earliest Christian communities. For the Orthodox Church, the Didache is valued as an Apostolic Father text, an authoritative early witness to Holy Tradition. Orthodox seminarians, catechists, and historians read the Didache as a compact pastoral rule from the apostolic age, a practical link between New Testament teaching and later, fuller liturgical and canonical formulations.
