Vanity

“Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and woodworms destroy them and thieves can break in and steal. But store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor woodworms destroy them and thieves cannot break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (St. Matthew 6:19-21, Jerusalem Bible)

“It is vanity to strive too intently for perishable riches and fix your hopes on them. It is vanity also to be over-eager for honors, or to consider your self better than others. It is vanity to follow blindly the desires of the flesh and to want things which will bring a great penalty later on.” — My Daily Bread, page 16, par. 3.

Our Father in heaven, please help us to have a proper understanding of what it means to sanctify Thy Holy Name, to continue realising the need to pray for Thy kingdom to come, always seeking first Thy kingdom, knowing that our anxieties, worries and needs will be taken care of. Amen.

God bless you,
Fr Charles
